The covers of your books are so personal and they really grab the readers. That is what makes us instantly connect with the characters and have them in our minds as we read the books. I love the way my Kindle shows the covers so I do not miss seeing them since I mostly read e-books. You are so devoted to your fans and ensure the cover art really shows your view of the main characters as you have woven them from your imagination. That is what makes the characters come alive and jump from the pages into our lives. Thank you for your writing and your great selection of cover art!! Love you girl!

I like couples one the cover or the inside cover. I’m a visual person and it gives me an idea in my head about what they may look like. The cover couple has to match the characters though! I dislike when the character is brunette/red head/blonde and the cover has a completely different hair color!

I do like pictures of hero and heroine on the cover, but like to see them fully dressed. It helps me picture the outfits you’d describe in your books.
I agree with Jackie, I REALLY dislike when the cover DOES NOT match the discription that we are given of the characters…I have learned from blogs, and sites that often it is the publisher, and not the author who makes that decision…but it is still a peeve…I too am very visual and love when the cover leads my mind to feel like I could recognize the key players if I came upon them on the street…
I so agree Darcy! When they describe in a book the dark haired hero and the cover is a blond man it drives me crazy. I know it is not the author’s fault, but it is very annoying!
I agree with both of you! Probably my biggest pet peeve is when the couple on the cover doesn’t match their description in the book. However, I realize the majority of the time the author has little to no control over this so I don’t blame them, but the publishers and the cover artists should know better. 🙂

I prefer landscape, beautiful manors or castles on the cover and a picture of the couple on the inside cover. This makes it less uncomfortable to be reading in public since many people have negative and pre conceived notions about romance. Also I have 4. Sons and they are beginning to take interest in my provocative book covers, just bought some really nice vinyl covers but miss being able to see the picture! 🙂
The two cover look seems to have gone by the wayside due to cost. These days most publishers do only the one cover, I’m afraid.
I like cover art that is elegant and classsy, nature or landscape based, a picture of the town house or country estate in Regency era novels and I like pictures of the characters whether they be single or in couples. I don’t like cover art that is very sexual or includes nudity as it is cheap and tacky looking.

For historical romance novels, I love nature based covers or covers featuring the couple. Shauna Galen has some great covers featuring couples and a bit different than the norm. I also like the new covers that Avon has been doing for the Johanna Lindsey paperback reissues. Most of these feature only the heroine, but they’re all set in diverse landscapes. Hope that helps.
I really like the covers with the couples but not always do you need to see their faces like jill shalvis’s book. You see them but not their faces, so that leaves a little to the imagination and helps when the models dont match the character description.
I am not a fan of the bodice ripper pictures, because I have a young son and he picks up my books and asks why the lady is losing her clothes… makes for an interesting conversation…lol
This question really threw me because I like different covers. I am drawn to covers the have a close up of a body, but yet the background has a castle or nature in the background as much I am with a couple on the cover. Then there are some beautiful covers with a the heroine on it. I guess the only cover that I wouldn’t be drawn to would be just with nature on it. Of course, even then it would depend on who the author is. There are some authors I would buy, no matter what the cover looked like.
I’m really torn on romance covers – I admit to hating most of them, and I can’t put my finger on why, but I think it’s because they are mostly the same. I know there are genre expectation, but I think romance’s covers are really narrow in scope compared to mysteries or sci-fi, for example. With regard to your question in particular, I actually couldn’t answer the survey correctly because any of these options are good or awful and it depends on the cover composition (I think Debbie Lou M hinted on this). Can I say it depends on how “cheap” the cover looks (because many do)? I used to love the covers with landscape scenery. I don’t mind singles or couples but I hate the “clinch covers”. Generally Sabrina I love your covers and if you put a dog with a screwdriver on the front, I’d still read it because what was inside was awesome. 🙂
Usually the Synopsis captures my attention more than anything. However. Bright Colors for the book capture my interest instantly.
I love a beautiful cover with either hero or heroine or both, but I voted for the close up of body parts. I especially liked the cover of What The Duke Desires. Does it bother anyone else when the person on the cover does not match the physical description of that person in the book, i.e., wrong color or length hair, etc?
I am super tired of guys naked chests. I like to see a couple and some tension/sparks, not languid faces and bent backs.
I shop by author not cover. I appreciate the artistry.
Not a huge fan of people on covers, I am more the landscape, nature etc. However if there are people I prefer couples in period clothing, with it actually on. I don’t need to see them undressing on the cover. 🙂
I chose heroine only…. The thing is though, I would prefer the couple, but on many covers with the couple …thet are often so cheesy.
Must be the control freak in me, lol. So, without final say on the couple picture my final choice is heroine only.

I love couples on the cover. However, it drives me crazy when they don’t match the author’s description. Hopefully you will have control over that!
I voted for the hero only – I find couples are usually awkwardly posed on a lot of covers. I think color has more of an impact on me than figures or anything else.
I have read romances for I don’t know how long. I pick mine by author or by if it’s series I’m reading. To me the cover has to match what is written on the back of the book or on the inside pages, it all has to have the same vibe about it. I prefer the couples-doesn’t always have to be close ups, then either the hero or the heroine ( as long as she’s not dressed in a flowing, ripped dress with a very low bodice. Men’s naked chest ok-other body parts like hands, necks, etc as long as not vulgar. Tired od marshes, castles and stables. GIVE ME A GOOD A I MEAN GOOD AND BELIEVABLE FIREFIGHTER, POLCEMAN OR EMERGENCY MEDICAL PERSON WITH A GOOD STORY AND I’M SOLD 1OO%%%%%%.
I like to see the hero and the heroine on the cover together as a couple and I have to say I like to see them in the clothes of that time they are from so I can see the clothes they are wearing in that time period. And I like to see them look like you describe them with the hair color that you say in the book. It makes you feel like you are in the story and you feel like you are there!
I like covers with tastefully clad couples. No heaving bosoms or explicit undress. I will use a book cover for those sorts of paperbacks or but the ebook, instead.
